10 Year
Anniversary of Createchart Studio and Gallery
In 1999, CreaTechArt Studio and
Gallery was established to showcase the original paintings and
stories by artist, Jeff Gilberthorpe.
“We had our first glimpse of
Jeff’s art in 1997 in a gallery on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Most of the space was taken up by his huge paintings of houses
and buildings being carried by hot air balloons. In one corner
of the gallery, a Queensland Homestead was suspended under hot
air balloons, seemingly floating over a model of a tropical
island made of paper mache.
As the artist created his magical
paintings, he was surrounded by a large group of visitors, all
listening intently to his charming story about a Homestead being
carried by balloons across the world. He passionately talked of
Grandpa and his plan to save the old Homestead from the flood by
lifting it from the Canungra Valley with the help of hot air
balloons. The airy adventures of the family in the Homestead on
their lofty journey eventually led the artist to an even grander
plot of the world’s famous buildings and monuments being carried
by hot air balloons to a mystical island in the South Pacific
Ocean.
In all his stories, it is a
gentleman of mature age who initiates and plans the lifting of
the buildings. Perhaps, it is the artist who wants to be part of
the adventure and simply uses his canvases to create his life’s
journey. Jeff can be found in many of his paintings, whether on
the outhouse in the Homestead series or in a biplane following
the balloons. Look for the artist with the white hair and the
bushy eye brows as he is sitting in Kuala Lumpur painting
Stonehenge or balancing on a scaffold on St Marc’s Square in
Venice surrounded by his paintings. It is those small details
and many more secrets that make the art so unique and endearing.
We welcome you to our art
adventure.”
